David Grosse

Managing Director

David is the founder of Number Eight Business Finance heading up a team of experienced professionals. With over 30 years experience in this marketplace, he is highly regarded in his field. He has vast experience as a lender, business owner and advisor. He is therefore best placed, and has the required empathy, to work with all parties involved in the raising of finance. Statistically, David has been able to ensure a c.95% success rate for the businesses that he has worked with over the past 5 years. Moving into the future, his passion is to ensure that every business owner is aware of the business finance options that are available to them and hopes to play a major role in achieving this.
His personal life is consumed by his family and his passion for rugby...hence the company name! Following in his father's footsteps, David joined Saracens at the age of 9. Following a period with Harpenden, Salisbury and Romsey rugby clubs, he was forced to retire from injury at the grand old age of 44. All three son's are currently player's at Salisbury and, despite a short and successful coaching career, he can now be found standing on a the touchline somewhere in Wiltshire. His wife, Nathalie, often wonders if life would be a little less rugby dominated if daughter's were part of the Grosse family!

Random Fact: David was once part of a marginally successful 80’s band. As the keyboard player and extrovert, he could be found on many a stage donned in legs warmers and wearing eye liner!

Simon Hammond

Regional Director – Corporate Lending

Simon is Regional Director of Number Eight Business Finance with responsibility for new business development. He is a career banker with over 35 years experience in the finance industry including 25 years working in The City of London for a number of UK and European banks. He has enjoyed a successful track record of deal execution and completion over many years. He joined Number Eight at the outset of the venture and is focused on working with clients to ensure the optimum funding solution for their business is delivered.
Married with one grown up daughter he spends his spare time on a variety of sporting activities including golf and sailing whilst also indulging his twin passions for cooking and wine when time permits.

Random Fact: Simon is the reigning champion of the office ‘red wine competition’ aka ‘The Office Wine Off’. The trophy currently takes pride of place on his mantelpiece. Not that being a wine connoisseur or owning his own wine cellar gives him any advantages of course!

Jonny Kempsey

Regional Director – SME Business Lending

Jonny heads up our SME business division and focuses on working closely with our customers to ensure a prompt and efficient service that will hopefully lead to providing the best advice on the many bespoke lending solutions available. Jonny has a proven track record in deal completion and is consider highly by many small business owners.
Jonny is a young entrepreneur and has previously owned retail, entertainment and food businesses. More recently, in his role as a business consultant, his main passion and focus is to assist other business owners to gain quick access to finance.
Jonny enjoys spending time with both his young family, brewing beer and his running machine where many a mini-marathon has been achieved.

Random Fact: Jonny formed part of a late nineties, early noughties punk rock band! A few of their records achieved top ten status in Eastern Europe and Asia.
